Still awaiting the photos, I think we have a postal (DVD being sent) delay....These are of my designs using Scottish and English (Yorkshire) pure wool and cashmere tweeds and checks with nappa leather trims and top quality leather buttons for Atelier Natural History. (Please note that this website is still not officially published yet, but you can have a preview by following the links here. Photos in the gallery page are 'holding' ones only).
This tweed clothing is made to be totally functional (robust, warm and hard wearing), but not traditional in design. There are plenty of companies providing traditional designs for tweed - hacking jackets, breeks, waistcoats, accessories, etc., but Atelier Natural History gives design and cut a breathing space. Stylish women need and want stylish clothing whatever the occasion, surely?!
All designs are lined and with double stitched seams for the trousers. The fabrics are an inspiration in themselves....please see the 'History of Tweed' page for interesting facts about tweed.
Tweedy Photoshoot @ Blenheim
Hello bespoke tweed lovers!
I'm assuming you're reading this because you're a bit of a tweed fan....?
Well, soon I will have the photos from the shoot we did on Monday at Blenheim Palace, and I have a strong feeling that they will be good!
Pretty sure that I had a good team assembled - beautiful model, great photographer, not to mention an amazing location, suggested by said photographer, Pier Corona.
And the garments - two very different jackets and three pairs of trousers, looked really fantastic on Emily, accessorised by her own wonderful flower decorated tweed trilby.
And it didn't rain, OR snow, a perfect day in fact......
O.K., enough for now - will hopefully be back very soon with the actual photos....And once they are here, this Natural History website will be publicly launched!
Web design ??
Well, the background looks great on the tweed website, and I love my logo, and both have taken acres of time to do (I'm not a web design or photoshop expert), BUT.... the logo and the background can't go together because: ..........moth...........woollen fabric........ what does that say to you?! "Your clothes will be attacked by moths if you have stuff designed and made by me"! Oooooooooooooohhhhhhh. I never was a patient person, but I have had to learn how to be. And I have learned that a bit of pre thought would have saved a lot of time. Equivalent of sitting down with paper and pencil, and making a rough sketch of the idea... still on the positive side I've learned loads about html and in THEORY could actually make a website look exactly as I wanted! (note 'theory'). So, I'm still at it.
New Website dedicated to all the tweedy/woolly stuff, and as a result, ANOTHER blog!
Just getting this new tweedy site up and running! Always takes longer than you think.... testing the blog page here.
I love all sorts of fabrics for different reasons, but pure wool and tweeds, cashmere, merino, herdwick, and alpaca yarns....they are all fabulous in their own right, in their own way. And this latest site is all about my designs and commissions for clothing that uses these. I thought that this aspect of my business, which developed unintentionally through one of my wedding customers, deserved a site to itself - a page on my Atelier Wedding Dress website was only confusing really to the wedding dress contingent!
More soon, will let you know when it's ready to see.
